Using 3CX on your mobile phone
Linking your 3CX extension to your mobile phone will negate the need to forward calls to your personal mobile phone when you are out of the office. You can also make outbound calls using the company's number using the app.
1. Install the app
If you are using an iPhone, you will need to open the App store. If you are using an Android, you will need to open the Google Play Store. The 3CX app will be published by "3CX", and will have the following icon:
After installing the app to your phone, open it and follow the on-screen prompts to link your extension to the mobile app.
- Agree to the license agreement
- Choose to "Scan QR Code"
- If prompted, ensure you allow the app permission to use your Camera in order to scan the QR code.
2. Finding your QR code
You will find your QR code in the 3CX web-client.
- You can find a link to the web-client in the 3CX Welcome email that was sent to your email address.
- Log in and click on the QR code button at the top right of the page
- Scan the QR-code as presented
3. Configuring the app permissions
- After scanning the QR code, tap "Continue"
- Allow the permission for the app to record audio while using the app (to use your voice in the phone call)
- Allow the permission for the app to send you notifications (to notify you when receiving a call)
- Allow the permission for the app to make and manage calls (for obvious reasons)
4. Deactivate your Mobile App
Any time your extension receives a call, it will ring all endpoints signed in to the extension (desk-phone & mobile app). This can be bothersome during the day when you are sat next to your desk-phone, so it is advised to deactivate the app unless you are not at your desk.
Instructions for the 3CX Android App:
- Tap on the 3 horizontal lines at the top left of the app.
- Tap on the avatar (by default, it will be a gray circle with a silhouette).
- Tap and hold on the avatar for about 2 seconds.
- Tap "Deactivate".
Follow the same process to reactivate.
Instructions for the 3CX iPhone App:
- Tap on the 3 horizontal lines at the top left of the app.
- Tap on "Accounts".
- Tap on the checkbox to the left of your name.
Follow the same process to reactivate.
